What is hazard pay and how does it work?
Hazard pay is based on a person's salary.
This benefit provides compensation for those who work in life-threatening situations or in occupations that can cause illness to the employee.
However, it is worth highlighting that the additional is only paid to people who have a formal contract and are contracted under the CLT.
There are several situations that can result in this additional amount. We will explain these in more detail below.
Finally, the additional can be paid in two ways. Firstly, as a bonus to your salary every month with your paycheck.
At the same time, young people between 18 and 29 years old who have a job under the Green and Yellow Employment rules can choose to receive life insurance instead of this benefit and have an increase of just 5% in their salary.

What does the CLT say about dangerousness?
The hazard pay is described in article 7 of the Consolidation of Labor Laws.
This defines that rural and urban workers who carry out unhealthy or dangerous activities must receive an additional salary.
However, the labor reform created the possibility for young people between 18 and 29 years old who work under the Green and Yellow Employment rules to give up this benefit. Therefore, it is possible to have access to life insurance paid by the employer.
Therefore, nowadays it is possible to choose the way you want to receive this benefit, if you are of the age defined by law.
Who is entitled to hazard pay?

- Are in contact with electrical power cables and are at risk of being electrocuted;

What is the value of the hazard pay?
The value of the hazard pay varies depending on a person's salary!
Therefore, this must be calculated taking into account 30% of the monthly earnings of an employee in a company.

In return, they receive life insurance and can receive only 5% of the salary as an increase.

To calculate the hazard pay, simply multiply the value of your salary by 0.3. It is possible to use a calculator in this process to be sure of the result.

How can I check the payment of this additional amount?
To know whether the hazard pay is actually being paid correctly, a worker can take some precautions.
First, ask the supervisor responsible for your base salary. Then, compare whether your last transfer was added to the additional amount by doing the calculations described above.
